Moonstone provides web hosting services, ensuring that websites and databases are backed up nightly, encrypted, and securely transferred to remote locations for redundancy. How do we do all that? We provides dedicated hosting services with daily offsite backup to multiple locations. Our specific backup strategy involves creating nightly off-peak snapshot images of all drives on the web and database servers (such images include server state as well as all files on the entire hard drive -- weekly -- or incremental changes -- daily) and then copying those images to a backup server in the data center as well as to another backup server in another data center in a different location. The image files are encrypted and can be transferred across secure (SCP or SFTP) connections if desired.
